Description:

On the 12th outing, Counterpoint Recordings takes on new and exciting ventures, by presenting Part I of the "Counterpoint Remixed" album. The ever first album on the label will be divided into 2 parts which will be presented as EPs, followed by the full version long play version to be released later in the year.

For Part I, a group of artists were selected to embody the contrasts which have become part of the label's identity - the distinguished trio DBR UK, alongside Section, Displaced Paranormals, and PRTCL.

Side A // QBIG & Zenith B (feat. MC Resc) - Initiate (DBR UK Remix)

DBR UK have become a house-hold name over the years. With music on labels like Renegade Hardware & Samurai Music, they raised their profile last year with the "Rough Edges" album, released on Dispatch Recordings. With the challenge of remixing the Counterpoint anthem - Initiate, they stepped up providing a darker and more obscure treatment to an already unique track. The highly progressive structure is bound to keep listeners mesmerized as they are taken away by the energy of the technical percurssion, vocal, and bassline.

Side B // Bassment - Split (Displaced Paranormals Remix)

Defining themselves as "a cutting edge dance collective", Displaced Paranormals continue to play a crucial role in the development of underground deep, experimental & neurofunk Drum & Bass. They continue to shine light on fresh future thinking music through Sinuous Records, Inception Audio and their podcast - Age Of Aquarius. They bring their trademark imprint into the Counterpoint sound with the remix of 'Bassment - Split'. A crispy rolling treatment on a groovy track, makes it perfect both for dancefloor and radio playing.

Side C // Bassment - Survive (Section Remix)

Section was formed in 2013 by Jay B and Solley. Their eclectic sound ranges from jungle influences, to deeper and more minimal rollers, which is tied together by a main focus - keeping the dancefloor moving. So far this approach has landed them releases with labels like Serial Killaz, Dread, Directors Cut and Natty Dub. Their remix of 'Bassment - Survive' builds on the intense feeling of the piano and vocals, and provides a well crafted build-up that sets the mood for a journey into deep solid bass pressure, crispy rolling percussions.

Side D // Subtle Element - Align (PRTCL Remix)

PRTCL is a British producer, currently based in Berlin who has been ablee to craft a very personal approach to the deeper Drum & Bass sound, and land releases with labels Flexout Audio and Terabyte. Looking to kick it up a notch, he founded his own 'Notion Audio' imprint which has already releases two high quality vinyl releases. Bringing the uncompromised approach of the fresh blood, he gives a fast pace treatment to 'Subtle Element - Align'. Expect a fresh futuristic approach on a high pressure atmosphere, which packs massive bass and high octane percussion.
