The bassline groove from Porto returns after a short break. While turning the page on our first ten releases, a lot of work was done in the shadows to put together a release that will set a new benchmark for the label.

Counterpoint Recordings has become known for outputting quality Drum & Bass music from up & coming talents. We now want to take this a step further by combining the ambitious and uncompromised approach of young artists, with the evolved aesthetic and unquestionable experience of seminal names from the scene.

Side A // Mikal - Footprint

On this 11th release we set the bar for what's to come in the short future, as we see veteran producer Mikal join the label ranks. Coming off his amazing debut album on the legendary Metalheadz, the Bristol-based artist brings his Dub/Dancehall influences and minimal approach to the table, as he headlines the release with “Footprint”. It builds on a highly progressive half-time rhythm and a tribal soundscape, to showcase the legendary percussion work, and ground-shaking low-end that has
help built Mikal’s reputation as a one of the highly regarded names in Drum & Bass.

Side B // Nosfer - Clockwork

On the flip side, and representing the some of the best work the young blood has to offer is Nosfer with the track “Clockwork”. This 17 year-old prodigy comes from Finland, and delivers a highly evolved and original sound. The track is a epitome of his work, showcasing a highly complex texture that brings together a precise drum pattern, a highly mechanical soundscape, and a funky lowend. Strange, fresh, and yet very powerful - we have no doubts this track will bring the Counterpoint vibes to dancefloors around the globe.
