A – Nmber 8 – Minefields
B – Nmber 8 – Clean Up
C – Nmber 8 – Sishu
Reaching its third release, Counterpoint Recordings returns with another EP, this time from Belgian up and coming talent Nmber 8.
Belgium has been exporting some of the finest fresh talent in the Deep vibes of the Drum & Bass spectrum, and Nmber 8 is no exception. After the invite was made for this release, the artist grabbed the job head-on, and delivered three tunes that will surely leave a mark on the label for times to come.
Side A – “Minefields” gives the name to the release and it is a hard roller, with a weight-full bass line. The intro builds up from the depths of darkness, and takes you to an energetic yet chirurgical drop, that is bound to make entire dance floors raise their feet off the ground. The bouncy vibe of the sub frequencies, gives body to the track, while the intriguing midrange stabs keep you on an entertaining journey.
Side B, “Clean Up” picks up right where side A left off. With a more joy-full and entertaining vibe, the intro relies on travelling pads to put you in the right mindset for the Jazz influenced vocal that introduces the drop. The track drops into a bouncy rolling mood, that delivers the full groove that you came to expect out of Counterpoint Recordings.
Side C, “Sishu” takes things to a whole different vibe and level. Not your average dance floor track, this musical piece delivers a truly beautiful experience, and invites you to close your eyes, and travel to the depths of your sub-conscience. Being a very experimental work, it travels back and forth from the musical picture of a sunny day in a tulip garden, to a busy day of the frenetic rhythm of the big city life.
