Description:

For its sixth release, Counterpoint Recordings teams up with Bristol up and coming talent Subtle Element, to hit the deeper vibes of the Drum & Bass spectrum in full force. The four track ‘Alternate EP’, relies on sub heavy basslines that work together with the crisp and minimal drums to deliver a stripped back, rolling vibe.

Side A – Alternate is the title track of the release, and it is very tight half stepper that wraps your ears around a sonic deep sub bass that bounces you forward. Building on a minimalistic progression, a funky mid-range and crystal clear drums, the track transitions to a roller after the breakdown, which makes it a very useful tool every DJ should carry in their bag.

Side B – Hydron, is a heavy weight sub bass deep track that relies on a mesmerizing pads and mid-range to capture your attention, while the low-end and the crispy percussions bring it together in an amazing state of the art roller. Pure Counterpoint Recordings bass line groove on this one.

Side C – Align, stands out for it’s captivating mid-range. The intro puts the focus on pads and rhythms to build the right environment for the stab that announces the drop. After the drop, you are carried by the deep sub, tight drums and powerful mid-ranges that keep progressing and changing to build a bouncing groove. This one will wake up even the more stubborn dance floors.

Side D – Drones closes out the EP on a heavier note, projecting a darker vibe. The sustained sound of the drone establishes the tone and gives a dark malevolent character. The organic percussion and supersonic sub frequencies complement each other perfectly, and give the track a momentum that makes it perfect to get the crowd on its feet. Drones will transport you to what we feel can only be described as the spiritual depths of a shaman ritual.
